Polish embassy issues 25K work permits to Belarusians in first half of 2017


According to the Polish ambassador to Belarus Konrad Pawlik, in the first half of 2017, Belarusians were issued about 25 thousand Polish work permits, while in 2016 the number was 23 thousand permits. In 2015, there were 8 permits.

According to the diplomat, every year 400 thousand of our fellow citizens receive Polish national and Schengen visas.

As for the economy, Konrad Pawlik stressed that over the past year the trade turnover between Poland and Belarus grew by almost 20%, and the volume of Polish investments increased by almost 40%. According to the ambassador, political relations between our countries have improved as well, Poland, like other EU countries, supported the lifting of sanctions against the official Minsk after the presidential elections of 2015.

The Polish ambassador also spoke about the situation with the persecution of independent journalists by the Belarusian authorities. The diplomat said that the Polish side is concerned with all the facts of work restrictions for journalists in our country.

Among other things, Konrad Pawlik also confirmed earlier information voiced by the Polish side that Warsaw does not plan to purchase electricity from the future Belarusian NPP in Astravets.
