Police harshly detained the participants of the Women’s March in Minsk. In total, according to the lists of the human rights center “Viasna”, as many as 390 people were detained.
Policemen surrounded the march participants near the ‘Evropa’ and ‘Iceberg’ shopping centers and severely detained everyone. The list of detainees included 73-year-old Nina Bahinskaya, as well as a girl born in 2004. Unidentified people in balaclavas grabbed girls from the crowd, caught up with the fleeing ones. When the paddy wagons were full, the policemen left only to return for more.
People lined up along Surhanava Street. But soon the paddy wagons arrived again. Unidentified persons in balaclavas and green uniforms without insignia began to detain women again.
Later, the police said that in three hours all the detainees would be released, but that was not to happen.
