Polatsk entrepreneurs continue strike


Traders are dissatisfied with numerous inspections. Authorities advised businesses to move business abroad.

Protest action of individual entrepreneurs, selling clothes and shoes continued in Polatsk over the weekend. To find a mutual understanding with the authorities, in the morning of Saturday representatives of Polatsk businessmen met with the Polatsk District Executive Committee Deputy Chairman Alyaksandr Kaladynski. Over a hundred businessmen gathered near the building of the rayon executive committee, waiting for the results, but the authorities refused to meet them halfway.[/vc_column_text][vc_video link=”https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=83C_X7bVDeo”][vc_column_text]The reason for the protest of half a thousand small businessmen was the inspections by the tax office and the Department for Combating Economic Crimes of the local police department. Entrepreneurs are accused of trading without the appropriate quality certificates, they in turn point the lack of documents in Russia, where they buy products.

Traders are asking the authorities to cancel the presidential decree 222. The leaders of the entrepreneurs’ movement do not exclude that the Polatsk protest can be joined by businessmen in other regions.

Each month, Polatsk businesses pay 5 million rubles in taxes. However, the local tax authorities have advised the protesting entrepreneurs to transfer their businesses to Ukraine or Russia.
