Belarusian Dzyanis Kazakevich has handed over a petition to the International MonetaryFund to Jeffrey Franks, Director of IMF Europe office in Brussels.

Then the petition will be sent for consideration to IMF Headquarters in Washington.

More than 3,300 people have signed an appeal not to fund current authorities of Belarus. The petition is available at the change.org in Belarusian, Russian and English.

“I had a brief conversation with Mr. Franks, which left a positive impression on me,” Dzyanis Kazakevich, one of the creators of the petition, told Belsat TV.

Earlier, the man presented a report on the misuse of public funds in Belarus to Peter Dohlman, Head of the IMF mission in our country.

According to Kazakevich, it is economically and politically unreasonable to provide $3.5 bn loan taking into account that that the large-scale Belarus-Russia joint military exercise West 2017 will be held here soon. In his opinion, lending money to the dictator who ‘cynically violates human rights’ is wrong.

The petition recalls that thousands of Belarusians have recently taken part in peaceful non-violent protests against the so-called tax on social parasites.

“The dictator responded with dozens (the number is constantly growing) of unlawful arrests and  trials with multiple violations of court procedures.  Dozens of law-abiding citizens are detained. At the very same time International Monetary Fund continues active negotiations with Lukashenka on a new $3bln loan,” the paper reads.
