Belarusians take to streets as Lukashenka secretly takes office (VIDEO, PHOTO)


On the morning of September 23, Alyaksandr Lukashenka took office as President of Belarus. The inauguration ceremony took place at the Palace of Independence. Several hundred people were invited to the ceremony, which was not publicly announced.

Large scale spontaneous protests against the inauguration of Alyaksandr Lukashenka began soon after the ceremony in Belarus. People come out in Minsk, Hrodna, Mahiliou, Lida, Babruisk.

According to the information of the human rights center Viasna, on September 23, over 200 people were detained. They were protesting against the inauguration of Alyaksandr Lukashenka. The list of detainees is being updated.
