New Apostolic Nuncio Gabor Pinter said about the prospect of such visit when arriving in Belarus.
“I saw Pope 13 days ago and almost the first thing we discussed was the recent visit of President Alyaksandr Lukashenka to Rome, his meeting with the Pope, and also the invitation to visit Belarus. The Pope said that we will find time and opportunity to carry out this visit. I cannot say when it will take place, but it is definitely good news for Belarus,” the Apostolic Nuncio said.
At the airport the Apostolic Nuncio was welcomed by all members of the Conference of the Catholic Bishops of Belarus headed by its Chairman, Metropolitan of Minsk and Mahiliou Archbishop Tadeusz Kondrusiewicz.
Gabor Pinter, 52, is Hungarian. in May 2016 Pope Francis appointed Gabor Pinter Apostolic Nuncio in Belarus. He is fluent in many languages, including German, Italian, English, French, Spanish and Russian.
