Orsha resident destroys traffic camera for fear of fines

On October 12, a 27-year-old driver was twice detected by the same traffic camera near Orsha.

For the first time, the man exceeded the speed limit in the morning when he was driving his acquaintances to Vitsebsk. Then he did it again in the evening at the same place. According to the Vitsebsk road police, the resident of Orsha decided to destroy the device, as he thought two fines on the same day would be too much.

The driver looped the camera and pulled it out with the help of his car. At home he tried to open the device and find the pictures which he thought were stored inside it.

A day later, the policemen came to him and explained that all recordings were immediately transmitted to the Centre For Documenting Violations in Minsk. According to the police, the offender caused substantial damage to the state. It exceeded 24,000 Belarusian rubles (about $12,000). A criminal case has been was opened against him.
