Opposition politician spends four hours at Belarus-Ukraine border

On Saturday evening, Belarusian border guards stopped Ryhor Kastusiou, Chairman of the Belarusian People’s Front Party (BPF), party member Ihar Lyalkov and two activists of the Together solidarity movement when they were on their way to Belarus.

Shortly before, the group had taken part in the conference ‘Russia’s Hybrid War against Belarus’ in Kyiv.

The men had to spend more than four hours at the Belarusian-Ukrainian border.

It is the printed materials by Bandera Readings that drew the border guards attention, Kastusiou said. According to him, the leaflets were sent ‘for examination’ to Homiel.

“They said the materials would be checked for signs of extremism. They even took the book Architecture of Ukraine. While we were kept in the customs building, our car was searched,” the politician stressed.

By the moment, the Belarusian State Border Committee has not made any comment on the situation.
