Today’s festive procession on the occasion of Freedom Day planned by opposition was not sanctioned by the authorities.
According to the telegram channel of the ‘Parasites of Belarus’, there was a police minibus near the house of Statkevich since the early morning. He was sent to jail for 10 days on earlier sentence. Eyewitnesses say that the street was blocked and people were allowed to go there only after their passports were checked. It is also reported that Statkevich was detained while leaving the house.
The same minibus was seen near the Leninsky district police department. The phones of Mikalai Statkevich and his wife are off.
Earlier in the week, the organizers of the procession Vyachaslau Siuchyk, Maksim Vinyarsky, Uladzimir Nyaklyayeu were also detained by the police.
There have been reports about mass detentions in various cities of the Belarus since the early morning.
