Opposition leader Statkevich detained at border, released half an hour later

Opposition politician found himelf in the center of an unusual incident.

Around 7 am, at the Losha border crossing (border with Lithuania) the leader of the “Belarusian National Congress” Mikalai Statkevich was asked to get out of the car and handcuffed without explanation, his wife Maryna Adamovich wrote on Facebook.

The car was blocked, and border guards told Maryna that she was not their “person of interest”.

Half an hour later, Mikalai Statkevich was released without explanation or apology.
