The co-chairman of the BCD Pavel Sevyarynets has called on Vitsebsk residents, who came to support presidential candidate Svyatlana Tsikhanouskaya, to go on a national strike.
At the picket to collect signatures for the nomination of presidential candidates in Vitsebsk, Pavel Sevyarynets, co-chair of the organizing committee of the party Belarusian Christian Democracy, urged Belarusians to go out to rallies against the current government, as well as to support the illegally detained activists, including blogger Syarhei Tsikhanouski:
“Lukashenka may stifle Svyatlana Tsikhanouskaya’s initiative group already on Monday, such data are available. We can prepare ourselves to vote for someone. But we know what Yarmoshyna will count [Lidziya Yarmoshyna, head of the CEC – Belsat.eu]. You and I know how she thinks,” said Pavel Sevyarynets.
The BCD co-chairman urged people not to be afraid and to prepare for mass rallies, as well as for a long economic boycott:
“We don’t have to keep the money in Belarusbank and we can take our deposits from there! You and I don’t have to refuel at Belneftekhim! We don’t have to buy goods at Euroopt and Korona, since they are owned by ‘Lukashenka’s wallets’. We don’t have to buy from Tabakerkas. Let’s economically boycott the regime! Stop feeding the regime!”
People replied with “Stop the cockroach!” and “Live Belarus!”
“If someone can just come and sign, do it. But that’s not enough. If someone can speak out on social networks — do it. But it’s not enough. If you need to go out on a single general protest, all together, all over Belarus — go out! It may be enough! If not — then a strike and an economic boycott!” called Pavel Sevyarynets.
The pickets to collect signatures for the nomination of presidential candidates will be held in Belarus until June 19th. Pickets of candidate Svyatlana Tsikhanouskaya gather crowds all over the country. Syarhei Tsikhanouski, head of the Svyatlana Tsikhanouskaya’s initiative group, was detained at a picket in Hrodna on May 29th.
