Observers uncover massive election fraud in Minsk

Belsat journalists and independent observers have uncovered massive violations of the electoral code during the Sunday elections in Belarus.

The observer from “Right to Choose” Alena Herashchanka has reported about the massive turnout fraud by members of the election commission of the Academic constituency #48 in Minsk.

“According to our estimates, 227 people voted, while the official record claims the figure is 520. It is a discrepancy of 293 people. That’s a lot,” she said.

During the early voting, the difference was more than 200 people.

The correspondent of “Belsat” Volha Chaychyts and cameraman Andrei Kozel came to Fanipal to cover the vote at the polling station #31. But the chairman of the election commission Alyaksandr Hancharou tried to forbid them to film.

As our colleague said, the attending observers made a remark to Hancharou, but refused to comment on the situation.

“After a long explanation of our rights, we were still allowed to film. And we filmed a story that will soon be broadcast. When we left, Mr Hancharou asked us not to publish this video,” added Volha.

The Commission, at the polling station #11 in Minsk removed the observer simply because they did not want to be filmed.

After the closure of the Minsk polling station #11, located in Knorins street observer Alyaksei Klyushnichenka began filming the vote count. It’s was not to the liking of the deputy chairman of the commission, who demanded that the young man turned off the camera. The Commission members unanimously voted for the removal of Alyaksei from the room.
