Belarusian athletes who decide to play for the national teams of other countries will have to compensate the state expenses for their training.

This norm is provided by presidential decree # 328 of September 9, 2019 “On national teams of the Republic of Belarus in sports”. However, it is unknown whether this rule will apply if the Belarusian athlete decides to play for the Russian national team.

In case of systematic violation of the obligations to participate in the competition, the athlete will also have to compensate the costs, says the press service of the President of Belarus.
