During the action of solidarity with Belarus in Oslo, a member of the Norwegian Parliament from the Christian Democrats Geir Toskedal said that he had nominated Svyatlana Tsikhanouskaya, Maryia Kalesnikava and Veranika Tsapkala for the Nobel Peace Prize 2021.

“These three women played a special role in the fight against the totalitarian regime in Belarus. For this they deserve the Nobel Peace Prize,” said Geir Toskedal.

The justification for the nomination also notes that Tsikhanouskaya, Kalesnikava and Tsapkala deserve to be commended “for their struggle for fair elections and inspiration for the peaceful opposition against the illegitimate regime in Belarus”.
