Nomination for US envoy to Belarus to be considered by Senate

On May 4, President Donald Trump sent his nomination for Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States of America to the Republic of Belarus for consideration of the US Senate, the White House reports.

In April, the US leader announced his intent to put Julie Fisher in charge of the diplomatic mission in Belarus. Ms Fisher currently serves as Deputy Assistant Secretary for Western Europe and the European Union in the State Department’s Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs.

However, to become the US envoy to Belarus, the top diplomat still needs to get approval from the upper chamber of the country’s parliament. According to news agency AFP, her nomination is not drawing the fire of US lawmakers.
