No tenders necessary for 12 Russian companies in defense sector

According to “Kommersant”, the Russian Defense Ministry has drafted a list of organizations that will be the sole contractors on designing, construction, overhaul and reconstruction of special purpose facilities.

The Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu has asked Vladimir Putin to give the special status to 12 such organizations, so that they can begin to perform tasks without competition. A total of about 1 trillion RUR (16,964,031,677 bln USD) will be allocated to the Russian military agencies for construction purposes in 2018-2027.

When Sergei Shoigu sent the relevant letter, Vladimir Putin launched a series of meetings on the harmonization of state arms program for 2018-2027. According to the “Kommersant” source, it is necessary to consider not only the implementation of the agency plans up to 2020, but also the state program for 2018-2027 years in terms of capital construction and “urgent resettlement of task forces in strategic directions”.

The special status will relieve the agencies of the necessity to participate in tenders and competitions.
