Viktar Lukashenka meeting with Head of Quatar’s National Olympic Committee, October 2019. Phot:

During his meeting with the students of the the Public Administration Academy in Minsk Alyaksandr Lukashenka revealed why he appointed his eldest son Viktar a national security advisor.

The video of his speech was posted by TV station Belarus 1.

According to President, such a position provides his son with the opportunity to brief him on acute and urgent issues within a few hours.

“And I have never regretted. I got open, honest, uncensored questions,” Alyaksadr Lukashenka stressed.

At the same time, it is impossible to get promoted to high positions due to ‘pulling strings’ in Belarus; one has to work day and night and yield the result instead, he stated.

Earlier, Viktar Lukashenka, 43, worked for the Agat military exports company. Since 2005, he has been a national security assistant to his father. In 2007, the man became a member of the Security Council.

In April 2019, Viktar Lukashenka started acting as the first vice-president of the National Olympic Committee.
