NATO leaders and Poroshenko approve Comprehensive Plan to support Ukraine

Meeting of the NATO-Ukraine Commission took place during the NATO summit in Warsaw.

A comprehensive support plan is based on “consolidation and strengthening of the NATO assistance” so that Ukraine would become stronger and more capable to undertake the necessary reforms in the sphere of security and defense.

“It is symbolic that we have decided to deepen the partnership between NATO and Ukraine. We decided to start the process that will enable Ukraine to receive the status of an in-depth partner with advanced features,” said Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko at a joint news conference with Jens Stoltenberg after the meeting of the Commission.

It should be noted that after the collapse of the Soviet Union and in addition to the Baltic countries, which became members of the Alliance, NATO offered cooperation to all post-Soviet republics. The strongest ties with the Union was shown by Georgia and Ukraine.
