National Bank offers commercial banks to make Belarusian sites

The National Bank of Belarus (NBB) has offered commercial banks to introduce the Belarusian language in mandatory communication with customers.

According to interfax.by, the banks received a letter from the Association of Belarusian Banks (ABB). It says that the Belarusians apply to the National Bank with a request to “ensure the observance of their rights in the choice of language used in banking services”.

The National Bank appealed to the association to influence the situation. The NBB suggests that the Belarusian language should appear in ATMs, info kiosks, Internet banking, websites and contracts.

“We ask you to inform the Association of the bank’s opinion on the possibility of expanding the availability of financial services to the population of the Republic of Belarus, as well as the planned terms of revision of the program interfaces of ATMs, info kiosks and digital service channels,” reads the letter of the NBB.
