Narodny Albom: video of Minsk concert

Organizers of the ‘Narodny Albom’ (People’s Album) show in Minsk made a real gift to fans of this iconic project. On February 24th, Belarusians saw the performance of the famous musical about the life of a town in Western Belarus in 1920-1930. There was a full house, which can accommodate 2,000 people. The concert was organized with the support of “Belsat” in the Prime Hall club. Lavon Volsky, Veranika Kruhlova, Alyaksandr Pamidorau and other performers of the “Narodny Albom” took to the stage.

What is “Narodny Albom”?

This friendly project — done without a budget, organized work, planning and management — was the most important musical project in the modern history of Belarus. We go back to the time when the project was conceived and make our way up to the remake of the performance shown on stage of the Podlaska Opera in September 2016.

Everyone who was involved in the “Narodny Albom” ha grown older. Fate has scattered them to different parties and even different countries. Friendship did not preserve. Many have doubts: is it worth to revive what was true in the late 90s? Some also believe that this project is timeless, and now, having gained experience, they are able to give it a second life.

For the first time in 20 years, “Narodny Albom” was performed in Belarus thanks to the collaboration with our channel. It was “Belsat” Director Agnieszka Romashewska-Guzy who said it during the September concert at the opera in Bialystok.

The idea to revive the famous musical on the opera stage belonged to Belsat. The Bialystok concert was sold out.

‘Belsat’ is the author and producer of the show.

The play directed by Konrad Smuga was first shown last year on stage of the Bialystok Opera Festival as part of the cultural festival. Belsat made all the costumes and the graphics for it.

The success of the Minsk performance could not have been possible without help from our partners at Polish Institute and Adam Mickiewicz Institute.
