Nadiya Savchenko: Ukraine lost 100 meters of land to Belarus


People’s deputy of Ukraine also stated that the lake of Volyn are becoming empty due to Belarusians irrigating their fields.

In a big interview to ‘Glavkom’ Nadiya Savchenko admitted that “she does not feel the power”, and the problems that people come to her with are “president-level questions.”

“The demarcation of the border with Belarus, started by Kuchma and Yanukovych, was unfair — we lost 100 meters of our land,” said Nadiya Savchenko. – Volyn Lakes are becoming empty, because their water is used to irrigate the fields of Belarus. I do not have the power to solve such problems. The power that I have is not enough to restore order in the country.”

Today’s Belarusian-Ukrainian border was established after the merger of Western Belarus with the BSSR and the Western Ukraine with the USSR. For the border to be recognized by the international community, the two countries began to put on the ground border posts on November 13, 2013. The Maidan which began in Ukraine after two weeks, and later the war in the east of Ukraine froze the demarcation process until 2015.

In April, Petro Poroshenko said that “the demarcation of the Belarusian-Ukrainian border will be completed in the near future.”

The length of the Belarus-Ukraine border is now 1,084 km.

Savchenko said that she was going to run for president. According to the deputy, to participate in the presidential campaign she “needs as little as 2.5 million hryvnia — to register.”

“There is a special fund, and it may seem that I gather money for presidency, said Savchenko. – I will participate in the election, and we’ll see what happens next.”
