On Wednesday, the Moscow police detained Veronika Nikulshina, a member of the Russian protest punk rock group Pussy Riot and her four friends, activist Pyotr Verzilov told Mediazona.

According to him, about ten police officers and plainclothes persons came to the place of Nikulshina’s friends. They said that they had been tasked to question the activists over the case of ‘damaging property’.

The woman and her friends have been taken to a police station.

On April 16, Nikulshina was detained together with managers of a theatrical project when they were on the way to the Golden Mask awarding ceremony.

In July 2018, during the World Cup final match in Moscow, four Pussy Riot activists dressed in uniforms held a protest action ‘Policeman Coming Into Play’: they ran out to the playing field urging the Russian authorities to release political prisoners and stop political persecution.
