More Belarusians go to work abroad while foreigners come to Belarus


In the first quarter of 2019, 2,251 people left the country in search of work, TUT.by reports with reference to the Department of Citizenship and Migration of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

In the three months of 2018, 64 fewer people left for work abroad, and in the first quarter of 2017, 412 fewer people did it. Minskers are the people who go away to earn money more actively than others — 861 people.

Outside the country, Belarusians most often find work in Russia — 932 people in January-March (a year earlier — 1,030). Poland is in the second place by the number of Belarusian labor migrants (527 people against 686 in 2018), Lithuania is in the third (410 against 308). The Czech Republic came fourth with 274 Belarusian going there (a year earlier there were 45).

The overwhelming majority of those who left for work are regular workers — 2,148 people. They are mostly in demand in Russia (917 people), Poland (518), Lithuania (406) and the Czech Republic (274).

The Belarusian labor market is also becoming attractive for foreigners. In January-March, 4,239 workers came to work in Belarus, or 729 more people than in the same period of 2018.

In the first quarter of this year, 4,239 people found work in Belarus. Majority of them were from Russia (1,159 people against 868 in the first quarter of 2018). The Chinese came second with 914 people (606 in the past), in the third place came Ukrainians (688 against 937). Also, Uzbeks began to come to work more often — 285 people in the first quarter (there were 212).

Most often, foreigners were employed in Minsk — 2,285 people, and least of all — in the Mahiliou region (75). 306 foreigners came to work at the High-Tech Park.
