Minsk police detain Current Time TV crew right in hotel


On Friday evening, four policemen have detained Current Time journalists in the Minsk Hotel where they are staying in the run-up to the presidential election.

Irina Romaliyskaya, Ivan Grebenyuk (the both are residents of Prague) and Yuri Baranyuk (St.Petersburg-based reporter) are being held in Maskouski district department of internal affairs.

According to Euroradio, the journalists are allegedly accused of violating the law on mass media (work without accreditation). Their phones are now unavailable.

The channel has been covering the pre-elections in Belarus for several weeks; its Thursday’s broadcasting the disrupted rally of presidential candidate Svyatlana Tsikhanouskaya has more that 500,000 views.
