Minsk court denies appeal by Belsat TV contributor


 

Minsk city court has dismissed a cassation appeal by Belsat TV cameraman Ales Lyubyanchuk

Two Belsat TV offices in Minsk were searched on March 31. Ales Lyubyanchuk was in one of the offices the police broke into. He was taken to the local police department, where a protocol was drawn against him over alleged swearing (disorderly conduct, Article 17.1 of the Administrative Code).

On April 20, a court imposed BYN 575 fine on him. It was the policemen who witnessed that the cameran had used bad language at the police station. Lyubyanchuk was not satisfied with the decision of the court, said that his guilt had not been proved.

During the search, not only Belsat TV computers, but also Ales’ equipment were confiscated. He filed a written appeal to the head of Pershamaysk district police department, but there has been no answer yet.

Ales Lyubyanchuk is set to is going to appeal to the Prosecutor’s Office against the actions of the officers of the department for combating economic crime who carried out the searches.
