Russian Energy Ministry: Belarus gas debt is $270-300 million


The Russian side announced the sum it wants for gas.

Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak commented to the radio station “Echo of Moscow” on the talks with Belarus over gas prices. According to him, the debt of Belarus amounts to $270-300 million.

When asked if Belarus will freeze this year, Novak replied as follows:

“No, we have no such goals and objectives. Belarus continues to purchase gas. There are only a few differences with Belarusian partners in the interpretation of the agreements signed in 2007 and in 2009 with respect to pricing”.

Belarus and Russia have been unable to agree on gas price. Belarus wants to buy it at the price of $73 per thousand cubic meters. Current price of the Russian gas for our country is $132.
