Marches and solidarity protests held in Belarus

Traditional street protests were held in Minsk and other cities in the morning on January 23. There were also actions of solidarity with political prisoners held at various points in the capital.

Volunteers report the names of 126 detainees today.

Cameraman Alyaksandr Mikrukou is among those detained in Minsk.

Chains of solidarity with political prisoners in Minsk were also seen in Masiukoushchina district, near Spartyunaya metro station, at the memorial to Alyaksandr Taraikouski, in Zavodski district and near the hospital of emergency medical care.

In Brest about 10 people with flags tried to march through Kavaliou area today. All were detained and taken to the police department.

Among the detained were the volunteers of the “Food Instead of Bombs” and “Street Medicine” initiatives who helped the homeless.
