Man who set fire to his hands fined 3.6 million rubles

Recently, Mikhas Kouk gave a performance to draw attention to the problems of people with hearing disabilities, who in fact are unable to call emergency services in Belarus.

“Joking aside, but in the case of my sudden disappearance blame law enforcement authorities,” wrote in his Facebook student of the “Fortinbras” studio of the Belarus Free Theatre Mikhail Kouk.

According to the actor, employees of the Central district police department got hold of him over the phone and without presenting themselves and explanation of the reasons for the call, invited him for conversation.

When Mikhail tried to find out something about the person who called him he heard:

“I need to know for sure that you are the Mikhail I need, to give you the name of our employee.”

When asked about the reason for the visit, the anonymous voice said he wanted to talk “about the articles that appeared in the press, and learn more.”

The head of the Free Theatre Mikalai Khalezin links the suspicious call to his student with the performance that Mikhail held during the rally of Santa Clauses: the young man set fire to his gloves to draw attention to the problems of people with disabilities. On his chest he had written:

“We will burn – they will not care.”

The comment Mikhail hadon the back read as follows: “In Belarus, people with hearing disabilities cannot call emergency services.”

Mikhail Kouk has already turned to a lawyer for legal help.
