Uzbekistan’s president hospitalised after brain hemorrhage - daughter

Uzbekistan’s leader Islam Karimov was hospitalized after suffering a cerebral haemorrhage on Saturday morning, his younger daughter Lola Karimova-Tillyaeva said on Instagram.[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]

He is now receiving treatment in an intensive care unit; his condition is considered stable. At the moment it is too early to make any predictions about his future health, the daughter added and urged people to ‘refrain from any speculations’.

Foreign doctors who treated Karimov before and know his medical case have already arrived in Tashkent.

Islam Karimov is 78 years old. He has been president of Uzbekistan since March 1990. In March 2015, he was re-elected once again – he received more than 90% of votes (about 17.2 mln).

The Uzbek leader is on the list of the world’s worst dictators by the U.S. magazine Parade. He was put on the list in 2006 after the violent suppression of unrest in Andijan.
