‘Make Chavez’s dreams come true!’ Lukashenka sends greetings to Venezuela


Alyaksandr Lukashenka has extended greetings to president Nicolas Maduro and the Venezuelan people on the occasion of Independence Day.

“Now our brotherly Venezuela is countering strong challenges of our time so that it could keep the course and continue to materialize all the things which my great friend Hugo Chavez dreamt of. I have no doubt that the Venezuelans will overcome all obstacles on their way,” the message reads.

According to Lukashenka, Belarus sets a high value on developing cooperation with Venezuela. “I am sure that together we can deepen political ties, strengthen economic cooperation, industrial cooperation and implement many projects for the benefit of our peoples,” he stressed.

Large-scale anti-government protests are in progress In Venezuela. Over the last months 76 people have been killed and 1,300 people have been injured.

The conflict between the authorities and the protesters have been simmering for four years. A new round started in March, when the Supreme Court assumed the functions of the parliament and stripped MPs of immunity.
