Mahiliou: How policemen without uniform kidnap protesters (new video)


Belsat.eu has received another video of the plainclothes police’s abducting a man after Wednesday’s protest rally in Mahiliou.

“We were in the Square of Stars when we heard: ‘Help!’ People ran there, there was a clash, it was unclear who was against whom. They bruttaly pushed a man into a car,” an eyewitness told Belsat.eu.

Whan traffic policemen came, the witnesses said that unknown people had kidnapped a man. In response, the traffic police demanded people should leave the roadway. A bit later, it emerged that it was the policemen without uniform who had taken the protester away. It should be noted that he failed to name their names or show any documents confirming their affiliation to the riot police or special forces.

According to human rights center, Viasna, 8 persons were arrested in the wake of the rally in Mahiliou. Earlier, Belsat TV published a video of brutally detaining a protester, which has caused outrage among Belarusian Internet users. The policeman who gave orders during the arrest which bore a strong resemblance to kidnapping has also been identified – he is Deputy Chief of Mahiliou public security police, Colonel Syarhei S. Volkau.

On March 15, Constitution Day, marches of non-parasites were held in MinskMahiliou and Hrodna. According to people who protesting the so-called ‘parasite’ law, Lukashenka’s Decree Nr 3 is unconstitutional. The decree signed in April, 2015 established the obligation of the citizens of Belarus, foreign citizens permanently residing in Belarus, stateless persons, who did not participate in the financing of public spending or participated in such financing less than 183 days (six months – ed.) in the past year, to pay a fee of 20 basic units (appr. $230).

When arresting protesters on Wednesday, plainclothes policemen refused to show their IDsused violence and even fired tear gas.
