Judge Kamushkin reading sentence to Anatol Lyabedzka
Politicians and activists were heavily fined for holding an action of solidarity with Belsat TV near the presidential Administration in Minsk.
It took place on December 20. The picketers’ aim was to draw the attention of society and the international community to the situation the independent TV channel is facing now.
As a result, BYN 1,150 fines (appr. $580) was imposed on former political prisoners Pavel Sevyarynets, a co-chairman of the organizing committee of the Belarusian Christian Democracy party, Anatol Lyabedzka, the leader of the United Civil Party, as well as activist Aleh Korban, Head of NGO Alternative.
In a comment to Belsat TV, Pavel Sevyarynets called the trial a ‘show and unlawful act’ staged by the dictatorship.
On Facebook, Anatol Lyabedzka states that riot policeman Syarhei Pimenau who testified against them as a witness, was reading his testimony off the paper.
