Lukashenka surprized by massive tree cutting in Minsk

Head of Belarus demanded that tree felling be stopped, his press office reports.

He noted that the media are increasingly talking about the scandals associated with the cutting of trees.

“Instead of making a park or put things in order, you begin to build housing. Is there no place to build a house? Why do you need to start a conflict with the population,” said Lukashenka.

He advised officials “to move to a house like this one and live there, and to build a skyscraper next to it, so that your house was in the courtyard of the high-rises.”

He said that he had instructed the Security Service to investigate the circumstances of tree cutting in the area of MTZ and received an unexpected explanation.

Lukashenka demanded that tree cutting be stopped immediately.
