Lukashenka ready to send 10K Belarusian military to Donbas

Belarusian peacekeepers are ready to stand between the conflicting parties in Ukraine, with an agreement between Poroshenko and Putin, Alyaksandr Lukashenka said after voting during Sunday elections.

Lukashenka noted that Belarus is very interested in the speediest resolution of the conflict in Donbas.

The head of state stressed that if Belarus were entrusted with a role in the conflict settlement in Ukraine, it would do everything necessary without taking anyone’s side.

He said that already in the first year of the conflict, Belarus sent its proposals for settlement. However, Brussels did not accept them at the time.

According to him, the Belarusian side agreed to hosting the negotiation platform, since it is interested in the speediest resolution of the conflict.

“If they found a better site, God be with them! To be honest, we have i fulflled our role. Whatever the Minsk agreements, the war was stopped,” Lukashenka said.

He acknowledged that people in the conflict zone are still dying. But after the negotiations began in the Belarusian capital, t is happening “not on a scale” it was at the very beginning. The President stressed that if agreements on the transfer of negotiations to other capitals are reached, the Belarusian side will not resist this.

At the same time, Lukashenka is sure that the issue of postponing negotiations on Ukraine was not discussed at the meeting of the presidents of the United States and Kazakhstan.

According to Lukashenka, the consequences of the conflict in Donbas are also reflected on Belarus. Lukashenka drew attention to the fact that about 160 thousand Ukrainians arrived to Belarus during the conflict, and that’s only according to official figures.
