Belarus may offer its assistance to deconflict the situation in Donbas, Alyaksandr Lukashenka said attending the Forum of Regions of Belarus and Ukraine in Homiel.
One should stop the war and preserve Ukraine as a united and integrated state.
“We are ready to get involved in the conflict in the context of some difficult moments and the lack of trust where trust must be. We are ready to do it just for the sake of peace. In my view, it it us, three Slavic nations, that should solve this issue. It is our mischief. Neither Europeans nor Americans, no one else – we should solve this problem so that it would not be frozen as it happened in other hot spots in the former Soviet Union. But I would like to stress that Belarus is ready to act only under agreements between Ukraine and Russia. We are not fishing for the role of a peacemaker or mediator,” he stated.
The Belarusian failed to specify what kind of help or involvement he meant.

Впевнений, ми могли б з легкістю подвоїти наш товарообіг. Цьому сприяло б відновлення експорту українського металопрокату у Білорусь і скасування обмежень торгівлі сільськогосподарською продукцією. Домовилися з Олександром Лукашенком створити робочу групу, щоб прибрати перепони, які заважають взаємній торгівлі.

In February, Lukashenka said Belarusian peacekeepers could stand between the conflicting parties in Ukraine if there was an agreement between Poroshenko and Putin. According to him, if Belarus were entrusted with a role in the conflict settlement in Ukraine, it would do everything necessary without taking anyone’s side.
