During his visit to Serbia, President of Belarus addressed the local Parliament. The head of state commented on the results of the recent elections in Belarus, reports the press service of Lukashenka.
“Believe me, we cannot do provide more democracy and freedom in which the elections in Belarus were held than we did. We probably just won’t be able to do better. We tried our best to please not only our sponsors and fans in the East, but also in the European Union. And what did we end up with? Some of them were impressed with the results of the elections, while others said: the opposition did not get into the parliament — it means that it is bad, undemocratic, so there is no freedom again, a dictatorship. It’s complete nonsense. We did not push pressure on anyone,” said Alyaksandr Lukashenka.
The head of Belarus accused the Western observers of having prepared negative reports about the elections in Belarus in advance, and then only signed them.
“I wanted to have three to five, to ten opposition MPs. But how can they get in, if they have 3.5% of the votes? Two people have a maximum of 4%. How can they get into the parliament, and democratically, as they require? They couldn’t even be brought by hand,” said Lukashenka.
Among other things, during a speech in the Serbian Parliament, President Lukashenka said that Western partners do not like the policy of the official Minsk. That’s why, according to Lukashenka, the U.S. and the European Union imposed sanctions.
In turn, the observation campaign “Right to Choice” recorded 757 cases of violation of the electoral law during the elections to the House of Representatives.
“Belarus did not use the opportunity to elect a parliament. Unfortunately, MPs have been appointed. According to the observers’ calculations, the observers noted a big gap between their turnout figures and those of the commission — they have nothing in common with each other. Thirdly, falsifications were visualized. We saw how it happened, we are drawing conclusions. We believe that the elections are not open, not public, not democratic,” said the national coordinator of the observation campaign Right to Choose 2019 Ales Silkou.
