Lukashenka appoints new envoy to Russia


President Alyaksandr Lukashenka has appointed Uladzimir Syamashka Ambassador of Belarus to Russia.

Concurrently, Syamashka will represent Belarus in the CIS Economic Council and the CSTO. He will also hold the position of Belarus’ special representative for integration cooperation issues in the Union State, the EEU, the CIS.

Uladzimir Syamashka was Deputy Prime Minister from 2014 to August 2018.

In June 2017, Andrei Molchan, a former officer of the Belarusian KGB, granted an interview to Belsat TV claiming he had proofs of state-controlled smuggling petroleum products from Belarus to Western Europe. According to him, president Lukashenka and top official Syamashka had a hand in the crook business.
