Luhansk: Russia-backed separatists torture disabled Ukrainian blogger

Pro-Russian militants kept Ukrainian blogger Lyudmila Surzhenko in custody for 16 days.

They also put the woman who has a hearing disability to torture.

Lyudmila Surzhenko, a resident of Luhansk, was arrested by militants on July 13 when crossing the demarcation line in the vicinity of Stanitsa Luhanskaya after she had failed to obey their orders.

Later, the representatives of the so-called Luhansk republic tortured the blogger by holding her fingers in pliers. They wanted the woman to admit to the cooperation with Ukraine’s special services and film her confession.

On July 29, Lyudmila Surzhenko was released. She managed to cross the demarcation line near Stanitsa Luganskaya, Ukrainian official Yuri Klimenko said on Facebook. The woman was in poor psychological condition; necessary medical assistance was provided to her.
