Liqui Moly to not sponsor Hockey World Cup if it takes place in Belarus

The Liqui Moly company will not finance World Cup 2021, if it takes place in Belarus, the company wrote in its Instagram account.

The well-known manufacturer of motor oil “Liqui Moly” stated that it would not sponsor the World Hockey Championship if it takes place in Belarus.

“The current situation in Belarus as well as the politics of the government, the treatment of demonstrators and obvious violations of human rights in Belarus deeply contradict LIQUI MOLY’s convictions and values. For this reason, LIQUI MOLY will cancel its sponsoring of the ice hockey world championship if the IIHF committee hold on to the decision to let take place the competitions in Belarus,” reads the company’s statement on Instagram.

In turn, the International Ice Hockey Federation is now to decide whether the World Cup will be held in Belarus.

Earlier, the company Nivea Men and carmaker Škoda refused to participate in financing the World Cup if it was held in Belarus.
