Learning Ukraine’s lesson: Belarus to improve mobilized service

Belarus’ House of Representatives has approved a number of amendments to the defense laws.

“Mobilization is one of the most problem areas. Perhaps it is high time we considered it and accept certain things. We are learning from the the experience of our southern neighbor which had to carry out a partial mobilization in the country as they had abandoned military conscription before. They had to act quickly; the parliament, the government and the head of state were involved in the process. If we are able to have the mobilized service, we will be able to train and instruct in peacetime, as well as to prepare for organizing mobilization activities,” defense minister Andrey Raukou said.

Not to fall into the same trap, the country had better work on the issues that may become acute in wartime, the top official said.

According to Raukou, there will be exercises, trainings, recall as part of the mobilized service. When fulfilling partial mobilization tasks, Ukraine faced a lot of problems, he warned.
