Many policemen have arrived at the Russian Embassy in Minsk. On Thursday opposition activists were about to hold an action on the occasion of the Day of Belarus’ Military Glory.

However, not a single oppositionist is seen near the building at the moment; there are about 30 police officers instead. Activist Volha Nikalaichyk has been detained, eyewitnesses say. The woman is allegedly being kept in a police minibus.

She managed to pass the poster ‘Invaders Go Home’ to other people.

“An elderly man in a drunken state came to the activists; later a drunk woman joined. They began to insult the protesters,” Belsat TV journalist Tatsyana Ulasenka reports.

Policemen in civvies were after Pavel Prakapovich, a representative of the Belarusian Christian Democracy party, the reporter says. Prakapovich managed to jump into a tram. Perhaps, he was not grabbed due to the presence of journalists.

As reported earlier, Zmitser Dashkevich, one of the leaders of Young Front and a former political prisoner, was beaten and taken away by unknown persons, allegedly plaincloth policemen. He intended to take part in the action as well.
