On April 25, the AP agency published an article which said that milk from a farm near Charnobyl zone used at the “Milkavita” company has 10 times higher than normal number of strontium-90 radionuclides.

According to the norms of the Ministry of Agriculture of Belarus, strontium-90 in the products shall not exceed 3,7 Bq per kilogram. In that milk sample, the figure was 37.5 Bq/kg.

In response, the Deputy Chief Doctor of the Minsk Center of Hygiene, Epidemiology and Public Health Pyotr Amvrosyeu said that the results of the content check showed that the cesium-137 concentration was 1,10 ± 1,77 Bq/l (norm is 100 Bq/l). The measurement of strontium-90, according to Amvrosyeu was not carried out “because the delivered amount of milk was not enough.”

The AP material author, reporter Yuras Karmanau presented to the “NN” a certificate for the milk, which he received in the Minsk center of Hygiene and Epidemiology. The content of strontium-90 is shown in the second bottom line.
