Jens Stoltenberg: Belarus should be inviolable and sovereign

NATO Secretary-General gave a press conference on the first day of the summit in Warsaw.

The Belsat journalist Alina Koushyk asked him why representatives of the official Minsk had not been invited to the Warsaw summit.

Jens Stoltenberg explained that the summit is a meeting of the heads of NATO member countries, but the question of independence and indivisibility of Belarus, as well as other European countries, is a priority for the Alliance:

“It is a meeting of 28 member states of NATO, as well as Montenegro, which has become close to membership in the Alliance. We have already signed an accession agreement, and the protocol has been ratified by all of the 28 countries, so Montenegro will become a member of the Alliance. Belarus is a neighbor of NATO countries. It is important for us to emphasize that the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all countries in Europe must be inviolable, and of course, this also applies to Belarus.”
