On March 8, a record number of sports fans attended the Beauty Run, an event staged by the Belarusian Athletics Federation on the occasion of International Women’s Day.

5,000 women took part Sunday’s race in Minsk; last year, the number of participants reached 3,500.

In accordance with the rules, only women were qualified for the Beauty Run; men could only support the сompetitors. The exact opposite rules were at play when the race on the occasion of Defender’s Day was held on February, 23.

All runners who reached the finish line were given a medal and a flower. Those who showed the three best results in two- and five-kilometre distances were awarded with money prizes.

The organisers also offered rewards for wearinf the most creative running outfits. There were three nominations: ‘Floral’ (a suit symbolising any flower), ‘Extravagant’ (made of unconventional materials) and ‘National’ (including ethnic patterns).
