Protests turn into terrorist threats, Interior Ministry says

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, in Salihorsk unidentified persons set fire not only the cars in the parking lot of the local prosecutor’s office, but also to the building of the inter-district department of the State Committee for Forensic Expertise.

Earlier, the Investigative Committee reported on the arson of four cars in the parking lot of the Salihorsk prosecutor’s office.

“Not long before that, unknown persons set fire to the building of the inter-district department of the State Committee for Forensic Expertise in Salihorsk. As a result, one of the offices was damaged,” the Interior Ministry said.

According to the Ministry, the source of the fire was brought through an ajar window, and a black inscription “GOLOVATY NEXT” was found on the building.

“Recently, a radical protest has begun to turn into a terrorist act,” said Alyaksandr Kopishau, head of the Criminal Investigation Department of the Internal Affairs Directorate of the Minsk Oblast Executive Committee.

Earlier, on October 8, an unknown person tried to set fire to the building of the city prosecutor’s office in Zhodzina. A 31-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of committing arson. Earlier, according to the police, the man repeatedly took part in peaceful protests.

“It is obvious that yesterday’s thematic protests are developing into terrorist threats. Law enforcement officials will not disregard any such case and will take all measures to suppress and solve crimes,” reports the press secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Volha Chamadanava.
