Information Minister: Belarusian language TV channel under consideration

Alyaksandr Karlyukevich

At a joint session of the two chambers of the National Assembly, the head of the Belarusian Information Ministry Alyaksandr Karlyukevich said the channel is under consideration.

“I think that this is quite an interesting job, and we need to continue discussing it. As to the Belarusian language presence on local TV, I think that the space has expanded considerably and it will continue to expand, when the public is ready for it,” belta.by quoted the response of Karlyukevich.

In September, Alena Anisim reported that local cable operators are interested in the creation of the Belarusian-language TV channel. According to her, the channel is not conceived as a competitor to “Belsat” (the only independent Belarusian-language channel), but for the expansion of the “Belarusian space.”
