Iconic Russian rock star performs in Minsk subway (video)

In the run-up of his performance in the concert hall ‘Minsk’ Boris Grebenshchikov, a ‘grandfather of Russian Rock’ and leader of Aquarium musical band, played in a subway in the Belarusian capital.

The off the cuff performance took place this morning, while the big concert is scheduled for 19:00.

The musician’s concerts in Kyiv and Moscow were also preceded by similar subway-based gigs.

Boris Grebenshchikov is one of the most prominent members of the generation which is widely considered the ‘founding fathers’ of Russian rock music. Due as much to his personal contribution as to the undisputed and lasting success of his main effort, the band Aquarium (active since 1972 until today), he is a household name in Russia. Grebenshchikov is colloquially known as BG after his initials.

Some days ago, Grebenshchikov took part in the action of solidarity with Ukrainian activists Oleg Sentsov, Alexander Kolchenko and Gennady Afanasyev who were jailed under the sentence of Russian court.
