The Deutche Welle has talked to Yury Harausky, who claims to have been involved in the disappearance of Zakharanka, Hanchar and Krasousky 20 years ago.
According to human rights activist Aleh Vouchak, 99% of the words of Harausky coincide with what Vouchak himself had investigated earlier.
“He confirmed the mechanism of the civil commission investigating the disappearance of Zakharanka and Hanchar. Only he confirmed the scheme not as human rights activists, but as a performer. This is important because he confirmed the report of the former Special Rapporteur of the Legal Commission of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) on Belarus, Christos Pourgourides, as well as the testimony of other human rights defenders. Everything is the same”.
According to Vouchak, Minsk will remain silent in the case of Lukashenka’s opponents’ disappearances, as before.
“They can comment on this only if the European Union asks for an explanation. Belarus is implementing many European grant projects in border protection, health care and ecology. Money from the EU budget can’t come until these circumstances are clarified”.
Journalists of the German edition talked to a man who calls himself a former fighter of the Belarusian special rapid reaction squad Yury Harausky. The man says that in the spring of 1999, soldiers of the special rapid reaction squad of the Interior Ministry of Belarus kidnapped and killed former Interior Minister of Belarus Yury Zakharanka, former head of the Central Election Commission Viktar Hanchar and businessman Anatol Krasousky, who supported the Belarusian opposition.
