‘HQ beheaded’: Leader of Tsikhanouskaya's election team detained

On Saturday afternoon, Maryia Maroz, head of presidential candidate Svyatlana Tsikhanouskaya’s campaign office, has been rounded up in Minsk. Tomorrow, August 9, is the official day of the 2020 presidential election in Belarus.

“Maryia Maroz has just been detained. Hardly had we driven up to the office as she was detained. They showed some documents, put her in a blue van numbered 92 82 IK-7 and left,” press secretary Hanna Krasulina told belsat.eu.

The official reason for the detention is ‘being part of an administrative process’. According to Krasulina, the election agent has not committed any violations.

“There will be no administrative proceedings until Monday, which means that the headquarters of the single candidate has been beheaded,” she stressed.

As reported earlier, the police gave an ‘explanatory’ talk to the election agent on August, 6.

(UPD) Maryia Maroz is being held in the detention centre in Akrestsin Street.
