On Tuesday, a nine-hour search took place in the building of the social and political centre in the Belarusian city of Homiel; there the local human rights defenders’ office (Homielskaya Vyasna) is located.
The raid was carried out by Organised Crime Combating Department officers; OMON riot policemen were sitting in a minibus, keeping the watch over the building.
Computers, data storage devices, white-red-white flags and documents were seized from the office.
After the search, the officers took human rights activist Leanid Sudalenka away for a ‘conversation’.
